Baptism
Baptism is for children or adults. We welcome parents who want to baptise their children at St. Stephen's. Please contact Revd Will Newman.
Confirmation
Each year after Easter we have the opportunity
for adults or children to attend a course leading to Confirmation,
or for younger children, a course preparing them to receive Holy
Communion. The courses will run on Sunday mornings, either during
or straight after church.
Most children in Christian families are baptised as babies. Confirmation
is the time when they can make for themselves the Christian promises
and commitments that were made on their behalf by parents and godparents
at their baptism. Confirmation is normally for children aged 11+
and for adults.
First Holy Communion
In the past, the Anglican tradition was for children
to receive communion for the first time when they were confirmed.
Recently the tradition has evolved so that in many parts of the
worldwide Anglican Church, including Hong Kong, we now encourage
children, with the agreement of their parents, to receive Holy Communion
at an earlier age, symbolising their inclusion as members in the
family of the church. This is by no means compulsory, it is entirely
up to the child and the parents.
If you or your children are interested in either Confirmation or
First Communion, please get in touch. I will be happy to talk through
any issues.
