Services

'Every Sunday service is an adventure taking us into the presence of the unseen God who both comforts and challenges' - Will

Our Sunday Service is at 10am each week. Newcomers are always welcome, you don't need to be a member to attend. It's a traditional Anglican service of Holy Communion, or Holy Eucharist. We say prayers together, sing hymns, hear bible readings and a sermon, and receive bread and wine, following Jesus' command 'Do this in remembrance of me'. Anyone who is baptised is welcome to receive Communion.

Each Sunday during school terms we have Sunday School for children age 3-11, with a variety of bible stories, songs and activities for children.

After church we enjoy tea, coffee and refreshments together, outside the church or in the church hall, depending on the weather. It's a great time to get to know people and chat with friends.

We are delighted that four times a year our morning service is recorded and broadcast on RTHK4, reaching more than 20,000 listeners in Hong Kong and mainland China.

We don't have Sunday evening services at St Stephen's, but every Sunday at 5pm you can enjoy an inspiring service at St John's Cathedral on Garden Road in Central. You'll often find Will there too. Each week of the month there's a different service. The normal pattern is:

  • 1st Sunday – Choral Evensong, a beautiful traditional service, the glory of Anglican liturgy
  • 2nd Sunday – Healing Eucharist, with individual prayers for your healing
  • 3rd Sunday – Choral Evensong
  • 4th Sunday – Taize Evening Prayer, with the distinctive chants of the Taize Community in France
  • 5th Sunday – A different form of worship each time

There are also daily eucharists at the Cathedral. Here are the times for English language services during the week.

  • Monday 8am
  • Tuesday 8am and 1.15pm
  • Wednesday 8am and 6pm
  • Thursday 8.30am and 1.15pm
  • Friday 8am
  • Saturday 9am

The Cathedral is open for prayer and meditation from 8am-6pm every day.
