Growing in Faith

We grow in faith day by day and week by week by attending to God's word and receiving Christ afresh into our lives. There are many opportunities to join with others growing in faith at St Stephen's and at St John's Cathedral.

Will joins with other cathedral clergy to lead one or two short courses each year on subjects such as the Bible, Prayer, the Eucharist, or particular issues of faith. Check the Events section of the website, or the cathedral website for details of upcoming courses.

Cursillo is Spanish for 'short course', and it's a movement for the renewal of faith within the Anglican Church. It starts with a 3-day weekend including prayer, talks, discussion, worship, quiet time, and enjoyment - a microcosm of life as a Christian community. After the weekend you are part of the Cursillo Community, meeting regularly with others to challenge and encourage each other in continuing to live a Christian life at church, at home, at work, and in the world. Check the Events section of our website or the cathedral website for dates of the next Cursillo weekends.

Do you want to make a formal public commitment to faith? Faith Begins is our adult Baptism and Confirmation Course at St John's Cathedral. Our priest Will leads and teaches on the course. Courses start after Chinese New Year, on Wednesday evenings. Check the Events section of our website or the cathedral website.

Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF) meets on Tuesday evenings, 7pm in the Upper Room at the Cathedral. At present this is by Zoom.

Evening Courses at the Cathedral and Lectures at Ming Hua Theological College run frequently throughout the year. Check our Upcoming Events page and the Cathedral website for details.

Hong Kong Interfaith Network for Religion and Peace meets monthly on a weekday evening, bringing together people from diverse religious faiths. Through our exchanges we learn more about the spiritual practices of others, and think more clearly about our own faith. Each year there is an opportunity to visit Kowloon Mosque as well as other places of worship. And there's an annual Interfaith Celebration of Peace at St John's Cathedral.

Christian Meditation every Monday at 12.30pm at St John's Cathedral, following the practice of John Maine and the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM).
